ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Geography is present into our day to day life and playing a pivotal role in the growth and development of the Nation. If we dig out the historical evidences, we will find that Geography have been constant part of the development of the Human Race. Geography reveals subjective, objective, inter-subjective and structural aspects of the Earth. It also measures the level of social development of the Human being and emerging drawbacks too,With a thought to watch where our society has been heading what more can be done for the benefit of human race. University of Kota started Department of Geography, formerly a part of Social Sciences in the session 2007-2008 and was independently shaped in 2025-2026. M.A./M.Sc. Programme and Research(Ph.D.) isrunning successfully in the department. Qualified Faculties from various Universities and affiliated colleges are extending their valuable support for successfully running of the course.
OBJECTIVES & SCOPE OF THE COURSE:
- The main objective is to impart knowledge of the Subject as well as aware them with relevant issues and aspects pertaining to the Growth and Development of human being through the application aspects of the subject.
- Both theory and practical are indispensible for a scholar of Geography, that way, our course is sufficient to disburse the theoretical knowledge as well as the practical aspects of the subject to make the student more competent in the field.
- A student perusing P.G. has several opportunities like to be engaged in the Town Planning Department / Remote Sensing and GIS applications/NGO's conducting surveys, research and dealing with demographic and Environmental studies etc.One may alsoopt teaching as carriers in Schools or in higher education.
- Course enables us to understand, examine and develop models of Sustainable development, interdisciplinary understanding of complex factors which influence the effectiveness of planned development interventions.
- To develop student experience in methodology and skills for development research, project planning and management with respect to Physical and Human aspects of the Subject.
